Model Energy Code (MEC)
International Energy Conservation Code (IECC)


Like the Title 24 Energy Code, the Model Energy Code (MEC) and International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) was adopted to help conserve energy, protect the environment, promote comfort for homeowners, and lower utility bills.

Some states that have adopted the Model Energy Code are:
Arkansas ,
Arizona, Indiana , Iowa , Kentucky , New Mexico , Tennessee , Delaware , Kansas , Montana , North Dakota, Connecticut , Georgia , Maryland , Massachusetts , Minnesota , New Hampshire , North Carolina , Ohio , Rhode Island , South Carolina , Texas , Utah , Vermont , Virginia , Washington, D.C.

Prior to receiving a building permit, documentation that shows energy code compliance must be submitted to the local building department.
